Bardia National Park Tour

This Safari program is the combination of Bardia National Park, and Suklaphanta wild life reserve.

Bardia National Park is situated on the eastern banks of Karnali River,lies in the west of Kathmandu. The park is 968 sq km in area, known as thelargest and undisturbed park in the lowland Terai region of Nepal. Thispark is also marked as bird watcher’s paradise which contains huge amountof accrued plants, animals and ecosystem. More than thirty different mammals, over 400 species of birds, many snakes, lizards and fish have been recorded in the park’s forest grassland and river habitats but the chances more or less depends on the season. It is the home of a wide variety of endangered animals like Bengal tiger, Wild Elephants, One-horned rhino, Swamp Deer, Black buck, Gharial Crocodile and Gangetic Dolphins. This park is one of the best places to view the Bengal Tiger. This river is a supplementary magnetism to the park which also gives an option of white water rafting to the visitors.

Suklaphanta Wildlife Reserve which is merely 4 hrs jeep drive from Bardia National Park. Suklaphanta Wildlife Reserve lies in the extreme south western corner of the country, a former hunting reserve in an endeavor to protect the large herd of Swamp deer was founded in 1976 covering an area of 155 sq km, that later was extended to the current size of 305 sq km. The promising reserve is famous for the largest number of tigers found per sq km. compared to its small size and on the other hand, it is famous for the large herds of Swamp deer, which currently stands at about 2000 individual. It is also the habitat of other wild animals like Wild elephants, Wild boar, crocodile, Blue bull and Hog deer as well as huge One-horned rhino.

Ghodaghodi Lake: which is Appx 2 hrs drive from Bardia National Park, Park headquarters. This is the Wetlands of International Importance. Ghodaghodi Lake is a Ramsar site and an important bird area of Nepal. It covers 2,563 hectares with 14 lakes and adjacent forests. In total, 193 wetland-dependent birds are found in Nepal. Out of it, Ghodaghodi Lake is inhabited by 60 (38 percent). This place is on the way to Suklaphanata Wildlife Reserve from Bardia National park.

Day 06 - Drive back to Kathmandu or proceed further to India.
